Re: 'Open garage'

Indeed, that looks awesome. Great photos; thanks for sharing! Amazing to see the original and new Fiat 500 side by side! Although I kind of know the answer but have we all become giants that that 2018 Fiat is what we now consider a small car? The guy getting in the little Cinquecento and driving aw...

Re: Viscomatic/hydraulic group

Hello, has anyone found a replacement pressure sensor for viscomatic? Just found out that the thread of the sensor is not metric. Its 3/8 UNF (or was it UNC?) with 24 threads per inch. Does anyone know the specs of the sensor, for example pressure scale? I am not sure exactly which sensor you are r...

Re: Q4 Viscomatic "bad piston movement" while bleeding

Photos of that rebuild would be nice :) Maybe I have seen them somewhere here? I haven't looked further at my Q4, as the Lancia has taken my time, so that it can be used during summer. I plan on doing more on the Q4 soon, but I don't have the possibility to measure this at the moment - hopefully som...

Here are photos of a complete one I took apart. There is a (drain?) hole in the bottom part.

Good thing you are able to get the original ones fixed :)

Re: A lucky escape!

You can take it apart at the bottom, there are metal taps folded around the top part. Since the spring pan could break, more can happen... The top part of the mount on the one in these photos, was rusted apart when disassembled - though that was after 400.000km. And even though the old shocks look r...

Re: A lucky escape!

That was lucky!!! Also good that you have parts :)

One thing you have to look at is the top strut mount, I have taken that apart and since yours look rusty, you definitely need to look closer at it!

I can send some photos later of what it looks like. And don't expect to find new samples of those...

They all seem to be electrically related, so probably worth checking the wiring. Did the light come on recently and did the 4WD change behaviour when that happened?

Re: Long time road going 164 Q4 1994 project

I managed to find new front springs for the Q4 (Suplex 01045) and the are the same, apart from being app. 2 cm lower than the originals I have, see photo. I don't think that will change too much when compressed, though. I also found the values for the extension of the shaft for the Q4 front, which i...

Re: 164 Q4 ABS problem (warning light on)

As mentioned earlier, I have had the welded relays replaced - before that it gave *pump motor' failure. I think this is a problem within the mechanical unit, so I will try and replace that with another one and see what comes out of that.

Re: 164 Q4 ABS problem (warning light on)

I went for a short test drive in the Q4 yesterday and the ABS error code reappears after being erased. I will probably try and put the other unit back in later, to see what that will bring. I took photos of the error codes from the Marelli tester. 2018-02-17 15.17.57.jpg 2018-02-17 15.18.34.jpg 2018...

Re: Electronic shock absorbers & steering racks reconditioni

They do look different. The only thing I have to compare to, are the new struts I bought for the Q4 in 2005 (they would have been some years old at that time), which looks very much like the reconditioned ones.

Re: Electronic shock absorbers & steering racks reconditioni

I don't think that the struts in this photo can extend more than is shown, and they are not being held down with straps, so I am not sure what you mean... These are probably not as good as brand new, though.

It is correct, that the ones from SA (for the Lancia) is not like this.

This is a bit from memory and reading this thread. You access it from the top, so put a light between the coolant reservoir and plenum and take a look. You should be able to see the rack where it joins towards the steering wheel, when putting the light at the right angle. Have a look at the photos i...

Re: Long time road going 164 Q4 1994 project

Attached are photos of the Lancia shock absorbers, I have received from South Africa. These were more rusty, than the Alfa ones, which is why they have a more rough surface after reconditioning. I also have some photos of the seal on the Q4 rear shocks, the naming on it looks like 'Top-Gun-D-L 022'....
