Alfa Romeo Brazil Meeting August 06 and 07, Caxambu, MG

Post by Brizio.Paes »

Hi, everybody. Good morning!

I'm sharing here with you the pics of the Brazilian Alfa Romeo Club Meeting, held this weekend in Caxambu, a touristic city in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The event was organized by the Alfa Romeo Clube MG, with massive participation of the Alfa Romeo BR Club members (from which the Alfa Romeo Clube MG originated and is still part of), and the city was chosen to be equally distant from São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Belo Horizonte (MG), the main Alfisti cities here in Brazil. We also had the presence of a swiss Alfisti, Axel Marx, that came just for the meeting. On the pics, he rides a white FNM 2150, an Alfa Romeo which was made here in Brazil in the late 60's. Also, you will see the red FNM 2000 JK, built here from 1960 to 1968 aproximately, which was substituted by the 2150. And, in 1974, now under control of Alfa Romeo itself, was launched the Alfa Romeo 2300, that is a brazilian model, produced until 1986, and exported to Europe around 1978, named as Alfa Romeo Rio in those markets.

Alfas headed countrywide, some from the south and some from the northeast, and some of them drove more than 1000 kilometers just for the meeting!

Unfortunately, as my 164 is just now being fixed up, I was unable to go.

Note: the 156 and 166 Facelifted versions were not sold here in Brazil. They are an independent modification made by a guy from São Paulo (note that only the front is modified).

People from the clubs are already planning the 2012 Caxambu, even bigger, in which I intend to be present. =)

Hugs from Brazil!

I had never seen any of these FNM models; interesting. I had also more or less forgotten about the Rio. That was sold for a short time in Europe. I think Netherlands sold it for a couple of years but I am not sure.

Erwin, as far as I know, the Rio had some problems due to Rust, but also some general quality issues. It's rare to hear someone complain about the electronics, since there are quite few electronic parts on it. Usually they complain about rust (even being nothing too common, only on the cars that are left abandoned on time), and mostly, parts that are really hard to find. As it is happening with the 164s now, we have lots of 2300 that were too hard to be restored and turned into donors. The 2300 was sold for just a few years (1978 and 1979, as I remember, but I might be wrong), some even arrived in Europe already rusty. The countries where it was sold were Germany and Netherlands only, as I have read, BUT (until now, with no explanation) one Rio is in Argentina, with a member from AR-Br. He's just started its restoration.

Axel restored a 2300 Rio in Switzerland, and the FNM 2150 he drives in the pics is now going there too! =)

The V6 from my totaled 164 will be fitted in a 2300... I'm anxious to see it.

Well, about the engine bay... This 164, Josmar's, from Curitiba (1000 km from the meeting) is known (for some years already) as the best conservation 164 here in Brazil... She's awesomely beautiful. :D

Hugs from Brazil!

Oh, really? I didn't know that... I thought it was unrestricted because, as far as I know, I don't have a SkyDrive account...

Well, anyway, one of the members (Tiu Mau = Mauricio Lopes) from Alfa Romeo Br just compiled all the albums shared on the web by the club members, and here I transcript them. I hope most of them have no restrictions... :)

He a nice Weekend, Alfisti!
