Maybe he is talking about Herbert Lanzer who developed the viscomatic for Puch Steyr.

Or August Kriebernegg or Othmar Peier, the other designers of the viscomaticsystem.

A year ago I found them still working for Magna Steyr, I even send them an email, but they never replied....

In German or English? If English that may have been the reason for the non reply.

Has anyone opened the viscocomputer and tried to update the hardware to make it faster or tried to remap it to change the performance of the car?

Superwebmaster has been into the viscomaticcomputer software wise. He was able to extract the Alfatester module (MA 12A) software to another module and was able to isolate the software.

I think you need an awfull lot of performancedate to improve the software of the Q4 viscomatic computer.

Dimtey of AlfaBB made a Linuxapplication to communicate with the 3 sensor (Siemens)airbagcomputer of the 164. Unidiag is not able to do this since another protocol is used. Most likely the viscomaticcomputer uses the same protocol to communicate with.

Dimtey had send the program to me and after some trails I was able to see the interface between the laptop and the airbag. Since I use an USB interface, Dimtey had to order this interface as well to continue our search to make it possible for everyone to get the airbaglight off and extract faultcodes.

That may have been done by an outside translation office and not by the scientists themselves. I know of a Dutch guy here in Bangkok who runs a translation business doing technical manuals etc. Having had extensive business dealings with both German and French principals I speak from experience that that was the most likely reason they didn't answer. If you needed some key info let me know and we could give it one more shot in die Heimatsprache.
Thanks for the link!

True !!

Credits go to Alex as well, however when we tried the software on my viscomaticcomputer. I was the with Superwebmaster alone.
